Invisible HRV for An eco-sustainable villa in the Pyrenees
Health, efficiency, and design with Helty’s invisible HRV in an eco-sustainable villa in Girona, Spain
A green residence within the Girona golf club context
Green in every sense: one of the first Spanish references for Helty’s HRV system is a testament to sustainability.
The concealed air exchange and filtration systems have been employed to ensure health and energy efficiency in a luxurious eco-sustainable villa located within the “Real Club de Golf” de la Cerdanya, in Girona, just a stone’s throw away from some of the most beautiful greens in the Pyrenees.
The villa, a newly constructed A+ energy-rated building, spans 220 square meters and stands out for its original architecture and widespread use of natural materials such as wood – used for flooring, interior cladding, and window frames – and natural stones for the exterior cladding of all facades.
Minimizing clutter to enhance aesthetics and well-being
During the design phase, significant attention was dedicated to aspects of comfort, well-being, and energy efficiency. Regarding the ventilation system, both the builder and designer opted for a quality decentralized Helty HRV system from the outset. This choice aimed to simplify the installation process by avoiding the need for air ducts – a critical consideration to maintain the aesthetics of the wooden beamed ceilings.
Another key aspect was the opportunity to have an “on-demand” management of air exchange and purification. This system could be tailored to each individual room based on real-time needs, ensuring personalized comfort for the customer.
Invisible HRV with Smart Operation
The HRV system, realized using Helty’s wall-recessed Flow40 Pure units supplied by Spanish distributor Absorsystem, comprises six dual-flow units installed in the six main rooms. These units are fully integrated into the perimeter section and completed with white metal covers that ensure a minimal aesthetic impact.
In each room, air flow settings, hyper-ventilation, free-cooling, or night mode can be managed autonomously and independently. Alternatively, they can be smartly controlled by air quality sensors – humidity, CO2, and VOC – which monitor indoor pollutant levels and automatically adjust ventilation settings based on the values detected in each individual space.
